News from the Women of the ELCA
for MARCH 2010 Newsletter
I want to thank one last time all those who made cookies for Hospice. I delivered about 25 dozen and they were very appreciative. This year was especially confusing because the 2 Sundays we had sign-up sheets and had the information we didn’t have church so it was hard getting the word out. Hopefully next year will be better!
There is still time to make a donation to the Blanket Fund! Extra envelopes can be found on the tables in the Narthexes and check your last month’s newsletter.
Planning Committee Members – I’m looking at March 10[Wednesday] at 10:00AM to have our meeting. Check your calendars and I’ll catch up with everybody. You can bring a lunch if you plan to come to Lenten Service and Bible Study. Anyone who has an interest in our Women’s Group is certainly welcome to join us! We are always looking for new ideas and new people.
The Glad-Abouts Arts and Crafts Group meets every Tuesday at 10:00PM in the Lounge. New crafters are always welcome! They will be working on Easter gifts for our shut-ins. Talk to Betty Lou Boynton and Carroll Neal for more information.
The Wednesday Bible Study Group continues to meet in the Lounge at 1:00PM. We are now in the Book of I Samuel. During Lent those who wish to attend the Noon Service may bring a lunch and a time will be provided to eat before the Bible Study. Come and join us!
MARCH ACTIVITIES
March 7 – A change from February 28 due to re-scheduling the Annual Meeting. We will meet in the Lounge at 1:00PM. We are reading Leaving Yesterday by Kathryn Cushman. For those who come to second service bring a bag lunch and join us for a time of fellowship before our meeting.
March 12 – Mustard Seed Spaghetti Dinner - Come and support our Day Care. It starts at 5:30PM.
March 14 – Lutheran Women in the Fast Lane meet at 12:30PM in the Lounge.
March 16 – Circle Meetings -St. John’s Circle will meet at 1:00PM in the Lounge. We will try to finish our study on the Beatitudes.
-Mary/Martha Circle will meet in the Lounge at 7:00PM. Everyone should have his or her copy of our new Bible Study, CULTIVATING A LIFE OF CHARACTER by Elizabeth George. If you have not gotten a copy or would like to join us see Linda Riley. Please try to go through Lesson 1 and answer as many questions as you can.
ALL WOMEN OF THE CHURCH ARE ENCOURAGED TO COME AND JOIN ONE OF OUR CIRCLES!!
THANKOFFERINGS WILL BE COLLECTED AT ALL CIRCLE MEETINGS
March 21 – A Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner will immediately follow second service. -Sign-up sheets will be in the bulletins on March 7th and the 14th. -A Free Will Offering will be collected. More information later.
