St. John’s Lutheran Church Congregational Council Meeting Minutes October 5, , 2009

I. Call to Order. Andy Banks called to order the regular meeting of the St. John’s Lutheran Church Council at 700PM on 10/5/09 in the lounge.
II. Attendance: Members present (Banks, Boynton, Gillet, Moss, McQuaid, Agee, Taylor, Chapman) Members absent (Roberts, Ruth, Wall, Wood, Horner, Kelley, Bennett)
III. Minutes: of the last meeting were accepted as read (Taylor/McQuaid)
IV. Financial Report: presented by Bill Agee. September expenditures over income (-$10,347.68). YTD (-$63,505.54). Mustard Seed income over expenditures +$2434.46.
V. Pastor Report: No Report
VI. Committee Reports:
a. Christian Education: Ordered more packets and Bibles for children in Sunday School.
b. Social Ministry: No Report
c. Evangelism: Face book discussion for St. John’s. Beth Chapman and Jenn Moss will get together on this. Thank you to Betty Lou for the choir scarecrow representing us on Queen Street.
d. Worship & Music: No Report
e. Memorial: $ 3,000 to date. Distributions of $1500 to Luther Hall Flooring and $600 to A/C repair.
f. Property: Discussed a St. John’s “Honey Do” List. List of things to be done would be hung for members to see and volunteers or volunteer families will sign up to complete the smaller tasks. More to come. . .
g. Stewardship: Dinner on 10.25.09
h. FLYTE: No Report
i. Mutual Ministry: No Report
VII. New Business
a. Budget
i. Remove Benevolence Line Item~ Grove Center $2000.00 and place special emphasis on raising the funds of $2000 for the center. (Moss/Gillett)
ii. Add Line Item~ Appreciation Bonus of $2000 allocated by council later in the year. (Moss/Gillett)
b. Christmas (McQuaid/Taylor)
i. Folders— ½ Grove Center, ½ Bethany House
ii. In Lieu Of Flowers— ½ Hospice, ½ Safe Haven c. Gift Card Drive—after the holidays Scrip will run a gift card drive and buy scrip with monies to donate to a community organization. (Taylor/Gillett)
